Field Name: Loa
Age and Birth date: January 6, 1993 / 16yrs old.
Nationality: Hawaiian

Genetic Information.
Mutation: Alani has the ability of molecular distortion. She can physically move through solid matter by disabling binding forces. This causes the matter to crumble as she passes through it. She has tattoo markings all over her body which appeared after her mutation manifested.

Registered Mutant: Registered.

Personal Information.
Appearance: Alani stands at 5’6 and weighs 120lbs, she’s naturally thin. All of her muscle is in her legs, she does not have much arm strength. She has very expressive light brown eyes that broadcast all of her emotions. Her hair is very long and dark, it is usually styled down around her shoulders and only on occasion pinned or tied up above her neck. She keeps it in good condition. She has a cute face to go along with her curls and she is usually smiling, whether from shyness or genuine glee.

Dress style: Alani likes sarongs and other types of breezy clothing. She likes to be comfortable, but her fashion sense is very apparent. She likes bright colors and is mostly seen in sunny yellows and oranges. It would stand out on most people, yet fits her personality very well. The only pants she owns are jeans, but she prefers skirts or dresses as opposed to anything else.

Personality:
Alani is a mix between shy and outgoing. She has a real interest in extreme sports and off the wall activities, but those usually do not include too many other people. She is shy and reserved around others. She can keep to herself a little overmuch, not from too high a fear of others but just from being naturally timid. Occasionally it will take her a while to figure out how to conduct herself around a large group of people, but she can get along just fine with one person face to face. She is exceedingly polite and will rarely take up arms in an attempt to defend herself. It has bitten her in the ass before, but she is entirely incapable of upholding an argument. She has to feel incredibly defensive in order for that to happen. Her shyness has not exactly kept her from experiencing life, but it has made her wary of strangers. Therefore she may not associate overmuch, but she does stay constantly polite.

Likes: Most things sports related, but not your averages sports like football or baseball. She loves surfing, cliff diving, jet skiing, barefoot water skiing, wind surfing, snorkeling or diving, underwater hockey, kayaking, kite surfing, white water rafting, wakeboarding, any competitive water sport. She also likes sports like skateboarding and other vert sports. Alani has been known to be glued to the television for days when the X Games are on display, but she pays little attention to the winter sports. Alani loves to read and research things. She has no problem with school, actually enjoys and excels at it. And she LOVES cartoons.

Dislikes: Alani does not like to be bored. If something is not stimulating her mind she can become fanciful and very distracted. She is not exactly in need of Ritalin, but she does have a need of being constantly stirred. Its due to living on shores in Hawaii that were constantly busy and absorbing. Her other dislikes include teen dramas, reality television, and frozen foods.

Hobbies: Of course Alani is a prolific surfer so that is her major hobby, but she also enjoys making jewelry and wind chimes, collecting things like seashells, stones and cards, playing video games, hiking, swimming, singing, and dancing.

Limitations: Alani can be painfully inadequate when it comes to interacting with people. Sometimes it keeps her from pursuing things that would be good for her. She also has very few fighting skills and does not have too high of an interest in improving them. She would much rather focus on the fun things then serious things. She is poor when it comes to analyzing situations and thus does not bother to try.

Skills: Alani’s one major skill is being able to surf professionally. Other then that she has a few talents. Alani is a fairly good cook, learning well from the generations of family before her. She can easily memorize things, she has the makings of a photographic memory. If she actually focuses on something she can easily remember everything about it. The problem though usually is her focusing.

Personal Views: Alani was raised with major religious beliefs, but taught to revere herself and life above all else. She has a deep belief in the powers of the universe and is incredibly earthy. Some of her former friends had jokingly called her a hippy before. She remains true to herself if to no one else. She does not care too much about politics but does hold strong to the power of the people over the power of the government and would march for just causes if she could ever muster up the courage to do so.

History: Alani was born in Hawaii to Aileli and Ekonu Ryan. The Ryan’s had a home not too far from civilization but back a ways beside a deserted beach and a surrounding forest. Alani has two other siblings, Enoch and Hawoki. They were both boys and both older then her so she did not really have anyone in her age group to associate with in her immediate family. The way she spent most of her time was on her own, reading outside in a secluded place, creating great adventures with her toys, or exploring the jungles around her home. A friend of the family taught her to surf when she was eight. It became the main way for her to spend her time and not too long after that her mother purchased Alani her very first surfboard. It turned out to be the only one she would ever need, to this day she still keeps it in good condition. Alani went into her teens with the sole sport but did harbor a great interest in all extreme sports, including the X Games, much to her older brother’s enjoyment. Her mother feared that she would end up too masculine and tried to sway her with things more appropriate for a young girl. Aileli taught her how to make jewelry, wind chimes, and got her interested in collecting shells. Alani actually ended up loving the things her mother taught her and partook in each of them whenever she had the chance but she still remained rather tomboyish and secluded. Through school she was quiet and did not mix up too much with other students. She had three or four close friends but she usually did not see them outside of school. It never bothered her. Alani was much more interested in the things she could learn from her environments and swam around in her head more then anything. She was not particularly disliked or shunned, she merely kept to herself.
Alani was fifteen when her mutation manifested itself. She was at High School when one of her friends was being bullied by a senior. Alani usually would not dare step foot into such a fray being that she normally avoids it, but this particular bully had her friend’s face to the asphalt on the school grounds and no one was doing anything about it. Alani ended up getting incredibly furious and stomped over indignantly before kicking the older girl off her friend. The girl of course retaliated by turning her anger onto Alani. They began to fight, swinging fists at each other and pulling hair. Even though Alani was no where near as strong or big as the other girl she had anger fueling her actions. She was holding her own until the senior pushed her hard into a wall of the school building. She braced herself, expecting her back to slam hard against the brick but instead she flew through the wall and landed on the other side. The entire wall crumbled in front of her eyes revealing the shocked faces of the people on the other side of it. At first Alani had thought the senior had some super human strength, but realized that everyone was still staring at her because she was glowing. The wall dissipated from her doing.
The incident made the papers. No one could rightly explain the phenomenon, and doctors could not figure out why Alani’s skin created tattoo like markings all over her face and arms not too long after the occurrence. Tests were done and the X gene appeared on the tox screens.
It is suspected that one of the doctors or nurses had affiliations with anti mutant sentiments, because once Alani got out of the doctors office she became the target for random attacks. On her way to school on more then one occasion she would see people spying on her. The final straw was when a car jetted over to her and a barrage of people tried to snatch her. They even managed to throw her into the back seat but she ended up hitting the other side door and flying through it, immediately falling into oncoming traffic. Alani wasted no time running from the scene as the attackers screamed about their ruined vehicle.
Aileli and Ekonu were worried about their young daughter. The decision to pull her out of school was an easy one but now they were at a loss as to what to do to protect her. The school board was demanding them to pay for property damages from Alani’s altercation with the other students, and on top of everything they lived in fear of someone kidnapping her for experimentations or whatever it was that the gangs wanted to do to her. And their community, once friends and associates, were now afraid of Alani and ostracized the Ryan’s. Aileli could not go to the grocery store without being discriminated against for having a mutant for a daughter. Ekonu lost his job and eventually Enoch and Hawoki were being effected at their colleges by the rumors and suspicions.
Luckily enough, word traveled anonymously to them about a school in New York City that protected mutants from the public. Xavier’s School for the Gifted was far away from their home in Hawaii, but Aileli and Ekonu knew it was their only choice for Alani to be safe. The anonymous caller had given them all the information that they needed in order to contact the staff at Xavier’s, but the family still feared that this might be a trick from the gangs around the area trying to take Alani. Nevertheless, they made the call to the school and told a Scott Summers their plight. They asked if it was possible for a representative of the school to be sent to meet them, and they made the trip to New York the first chance they could. There they met with Danielle Moonstar and all was made clear. Alani would be safe at the new school. The Ryan’s had made the right choice.

Status: Student.
